Sahara Power, established in 2001, the company's core
business lies in the acquisition, repair, maintenance and operation of power
plants. Between 2001 and 2004, the company played an active role in the
Emergency Power Projects embarked on by the then Nigerian Electric Power
Authority (NEPA) presently known as the Power Holding Company of Nigeria
(PHCN).
In 2006, the company partnered with a major international power company, Korean Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), to enable it to provide a wider range of solutions to the entire power sector chain throughout the region.
The resulting company KEPCO Energy Resource Ltd. (KERL) carried out major repairs to two boilers in Egbin Power Plant,Lagos State .
Egbin has an installed capacity of 1320MW, but in 2006 could only generate
880MW. The work carried out by KERL added 440MW, restoring the plant to full
capacity.
KERL is presently engineering a 1350MW Power Plant, to be installed in theLagos area. The plant
